But I used last week's trillium sketch for this oil painting.........
I am challenged to photograph oil paintings as there seems to be a sheen with the background. Anyone have suggestions?

joanne, Your painting is beautiful! i just love the colors and that dark background. I have no photography tips though as my work is mostly watercolor. Good luck! (Although I hardly see a sheen in this image)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting. You make oils look so easy.. :)
ReplyDeleteYour painting is gorgeous! I love flowers and your piece is so rich and beautiful. That sheen that oils have is so wonderful in person, but definitely a challenge to photograph. I've heard people suggest lighting the painting with two different light sources, one on each side focused on the painting. I paint with acrylics though and for me what I need to do is photograph before I varnish...
ReplyDeletebeautiful oil painting! (I'm a new follower and hope you'll follow me too!) Happy SS!
ReplyDeleteJoanne, you've outdone yourself. This is so beautiful. I love how your paintings speak to my heart. Truly lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteAs always - BEAUTIFUL!!!

This really gorgeous, Joanne. I love the white forms of the flowers against the dark green. I have trouble with sheen when I try to photograph acrylic paintings. I am definitely no expert, but sometimes I get better results if I take the painting outside in the late afternoon and photograph it in the shade.
